Read all three and pick the one that fits you best. If you match one level well and the next only partly, pick the lower one. A team at the right level is more fun than one where you're stretched.

Note: Covers slo-pitch, the format most rec leagues play.

You're probably a Beginner if you…

  • Are new to slo-pitch, or haven't played since school
  • Focus on making contact when batting, and strike out now and then
  • Make fielding errors and miss catches fairly often
  • Are still learning tagging up, force plays and when to run
  • Are happy to play wherever the team puts you each inning

You're probably Intermediate if you…

  • Have played a season or more of slo-pitch
  • Make contact in most at-bats, and sometimes place the ball where you want
  • Field routine grounders and fly balls cleanly most of the time
  • Understand base running, force plays and tagging up
  • Usually play one or two positions

You're probably Advanced if you…

  • Played fastpitch, baseball, or many seasons of competitive slo-pitch
  • Hit with power and place hits strategically
  • Field and throw consistently, including cutoffs and double plays
  • Know how to position the field for each batter
  • Play a set position well; if you pitch, you throw strikes consistently
