These terms apply to connect.recsportsteam.com — the app you use to find teams and fill rosters. The main site at recsportsteam.com has its own terms. By creating an account you accept these terms; if you do not accept them, please do not use the app.

They work alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and who can see it.

Meeting people in person — read this one

This app introduces people to each other so they can play sport together. Those introductions lead to meeting strangers in person, and that carries real risk.

You need to understand what we do and do not do:

We do not verify who anyone is. Names, photos, ages, skill levels and everything else on a profile are supplied by the member and are not checked by us.
We do not run background checks of any kind on members, captains or teams.
We are not involved in your games. We do not organise, supervise, insure or attend them, and we are not a party to any arrangement you make with a team or another member.
We do not check that a team, league or venue is real, safe, insured, or what it claims to be.

You take part at your own risk. Use the same judgement you would with any stranger: meet in public where you can, tell someone where you are going, and stop if something feels wrong. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services — we are not an emergency service and cannot respond quickly.

Report anyone who behaves badly. Every profile and conversation has a Report option, and reports go straight to our team.

Who can use the app

You must be 18 or over. You confirm this when you create your account, and we record the date.
One account per person. Do not create an account for someone else, or pretend to be someone you are not.
The information you give us must be accurate — particularly your name and the details captains rely on when deciding whether to accept you.
You may not use the app if we have previously suspended or removed your account.

Your account

There is no password. You sign in with a link emailed to you, or through Google, which means anyone with access to your email account can sign in as you. Keep your email account secure, and do not forward sign-in links to anyone.

You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at contact@recsportsteam.com if you think someone else has used it.

How to behave

While using the app, you must not:

harass, threaten, bully or abuse anyone;
send sexual, hateful, discriminatory or otherwise unacceptable messages;
post anything false, misleading or fraudulent, including fake teams and fake spots;
impersonate another person, team or organisation;
use the app to advertise, recruit for anything unrelated, sell things, or send spam;
contact anyone who has asked you to stop;
collect other members' information, whether by hand or with automated tools;
try to break, overload, or get around the security or limits of the app;
use the app for anything unlawful.

We apply limits on how often you can message, apply and post. They exist to stop automated abuse, and working around them is a breach of these terms.

Listings, applications and roster spots

If you post a listing, you are the captain of it, and you agree that:

the details are accurate — the sport, city, skill level, schedule, season and the number of spots genuinely open;
you have the authority to recruit for that team;
if you set a gender restriction, it reflects a real requirement of your league or competition, and is not used to exclude people for any other reason;
you decide who to accept, and you are responsible for that decision.

If you apply to a listing, you are asking a captain to consider you. Being accepted is not a guarantee of anything: not of playing time, not of the team existing, and not of the season running as described. Any fees, waivers or league registration are between you and the team, and nothing to do with us.

We do not guarantee that you will find a team, that anyone will apply to your listing, or that any listing is genuine.

Messages

Messaging opens once an application is accepted, and is private between the two of you — with one exception, which is set out in the Privacy Policy: if either of you reports the other, an administrator can read that conversation in order to investigate. A captain can also delete a whole conversation, which removes it for both people.

Reporting and moderation

We review every report. Where we think it is warranted we may, without notice, remove a listing, suspend an account, or remove an account permanently. A suspended account cannot sign in, and its listings and profile stop being visible.

We are not obliged to monitor what members post, and we do not promise to catch everything. We also do not have to explain a moderation decision in detail, though we will tell you the reason recorded against a suspension. If you think we have got it wrong, write to contact@recsportsteam.com and we will look again.

What you post

You keep ownership of everything you post — your profile, your photo, your listings and your messages.

You give us permission to store, display and share that content only as needed to run the app: showing your profile to other signed-in members, showing your listing on Browse, delivering your messages to the person you are talking to, and keeping backups. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except where we must keep something — a moderation record, for instance, as described in the Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your content, and we do not use it for advertising. You are responsible for having the right to post what you post; do not upload photos of other people without their agreement.

The app is free

Rec Sports Team Connect is free to use. There is no charge to create an account, post a listing or message anyone. Contributions through Support the Site are voluntary, are not payment for the service, and buy no additional features or priority.

Availability

We provide the app as it is. We do not promise it will always be available, that it will be free of faults, or that emails will always arrive — including sign-in links, which depend on your email provider. We may change or withdraw features at any time.

Our responsibility to you

To the extent the law allows, and because the app is provided free of charge, we are not liable for:

anything that happens between you and another member, online or in person;
the conduct, statements, honesty or safety of any member, captain, team, league or venue;
injury, loss or damage arising from a game, practice or meeting arranged through the app;
indirect or consequential loss of any kind, including lost opportunities;
content posted by members.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Your responsibility to us

If someone brings a claim against us because of something you did on the app — content you posted, a breach of these terms, or your conduct towards another member — you agree to cover the reasonable costs we incur as a result.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time from your profile. What that removes, and what is kept, is set out in the Privacy Policy — it cannot be undone.

We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if we believe you are putting other members at risk, or if we stop running the app.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Each version has a number — this one is 2026-09-03 — and when we publish a new one, you will be asked to accept it the next time you sign in. We record which version you accepted and when. Continuing to use the app after accepting means the new terms apply.

General

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
If we do not enforce something immediately, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
These terms, with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about your use of the app.
You may not transfer your account or your rights under these terms to anyone else.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, and the courts of British Columbia have jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
