Read all three and pick the one that fits you best. If you match one level well and the next only partly, pick the lower one. A team at the right level is more fun than one where you're stretched.

Note: Most rec leagues offer recreational play only, so Advanced here means a very experienced rec player.

You're probably a Beginner if you…

  • Haven't played since school, or are new to league dodgeball
  • Throw with more hope than aim
  • Usually get out by dodging late rather than catching
  • Are still learning the rules: catches, headshots, when you can come back in
  • Are mainly here for the fun and the social side

You're probably Intermediate if you…

  • Have played a season or more of league dodgeball
  • Throw accurately at a chosen target
  • Catch some balls thrown at you, and block with a ball you're holding
  • Know the rules well
  • Play with your team: coordinated throws, keeping balls on your side

You're probably Advanced if you…

  • Have played many seasons and know the strategy
  • Throw hard and accurately, including timed team throws
  • Catch reliably, even hard throws
  • Know when to push the pace and when to hold balls
  • Help newer players learn the rules and tactics
